With reference to Lord Elgin's

Despatch No. 275 of the 28th. of December last and to

previous correspondencs, I have now the honour to transmit

for the signification of His Majesty's pleasure the follow-

-ing Ordinance entitled:- "An Ordinance to provide for the

transfer to the Government of Hongkong of the Widows and

Orphans' Fension Fund and of the Management and Control of

the Pensions of Widows and Orphans and to consolidate the

laws in relation thereto".

The customary report by the

Attorney-General is annexed. The opportunity has been

taken to consolidate the law, and previous Ordinances deal-

-ing with the subject have been repealed.
